What is your design philosophy?
We believe that communication design should be simple, usable, and effective.
Simple
We keep our designs simple in order to maximize usability for as many people as possible, consistent with the principle of Universal Design. (Curious? Learn more about Universal Design)
Simplicity is achieved when everyone can easily understand and use the design, regardless of experience, literacy, or concentration level.
As Frank Lloyd Wright has stated, "Simplicity is not plainness. Simplicity leads to clarity in design. To know what to leave out and what to put in, and just where to put it, is something that comes from the knowledge of simplicity."
Usable
Usable web sites accommodate people with disabilities, older people, children, novice technology users and others in ways that benefits all users. A usable web site allows visitors to complete tasks with ease, accuracy, and success.
Other characteristics of a usable web site include understandable navigation, logical site architecture, and approachable visual design. It eliminates unnecessary complexity, is consistent with user expectations, arranges information consistent with its importance, and provides effective prompting and feedback during and after task completion.
Effective
We believe a minimalist solution is often the most effective. Reducing the number of unnecessary elements in a design helps to focus the reader's attention on content and functionality. Clean aesthetics remove distraction and increase a design's efficiency, resulting in a satisfying and positive experience.

Our studio was originally established with a focus on websites for photographers and artists, non-profit organizations, and cultural institutions. Since then the studio has expanded its clientele to include a diverse range of local businesses and retail establishments.
Our studio regularly collaborates with other accomplished design professionals and firms in the Central Ohio area. Working with other designers, writers, and developers, we can deliver a comprehensive set of communication solutions without the overhead expenditures of a large design firm.
We also frequently work with local design agencies and independent designers who are in need of someone who can translate their designs into standards compliant HTML and CSS while maintaining the integrity of their design.
We are currently members of AIGA Cincinnati, Columbus Society of Communicating Arts (CSCA), Information Architecture Institute (IAI), and Interaction Design Association (IxDA).
Our studio also participates in the Columbus GreenSpot program.
